Hitachi Energy Invests $77 Million in Brazil Transformer Component Production

Hitachi Energy announced a BRL 385 million (USD 77 million) investment in Brazil on October 22, 2026, to expand manufacturing of high-voltage transformer components.

The investment covers a new facility in Pindamonhangaba, São Paulo, and an expansion of electrical insulation material production in Guarulhos. The company expects the projects to create more than 120 direct jobs.

New capacity for bushings and tap changers

The Pindamonhangaba facility will produce transformer bushings and tap changers alongside a power transformer factory already under construction.

The expansion will add capacity for oil-impregnated paper bushings and increase production of resin-impregnated paper and paperless bushings. Hitachi Energy also plans to introduce robotic automation and digital manufacturing systems.

With the latest announcement, the company's total investment in Brazil exceeds USD 350 million.

Brazil strengthens local transformer production

Hitachi Energy said the expansion will reduce reliance on components imported from Europe and Asia, while improving delivery times for customers in Latin America.

Brazil is already the only country in Latin America manufacturing these high-voltage transformer components locally, according to the company.

The investment concerns components for high-voltage power transformers, rather than the low-voltage isolation transformers used in some industrial UPS applications.
