A hospital in Cameroon was installing a new CT scanner and needed a dedicated UPS to protect the imaging system from voltage fluctuations and power interruptions. CT scanner power requirements
The CT scanner presents a dynamic load and needs stable power throughout each scan. The hospital required 0ms transfer time, voltage regulation, battery backup, and isolation between the UPS output and the scanner.
The system was configured for:

TAFENG supplied the W-120KL 120kVA / 96kW low-frequency online UPS. Its transformer-based design includes a built-in output isolation transformer that provides galvanic isolation between the UPS output and the CT scanner and helps reduce electrical noise on the load side. This was a key reason for choosing a low-frequency UPS rather than a high-frequency unit for this application.
The 32 × 12V 100Ah lead-acid battery bank was designed for an estimated backup time of approximately 10 minutes. A manual maintenance bypass lets technicians service the UPS without disconnecting the scanner. SNMP, RS232, and RS485 interfaces support remote status monitoring and alarms.

Installation and commissioning
